10대 소년 강진과 그의 가족은 작은 도시 산청으로 이사를 온다. 강진의 어머니 춘희의 고향인 이곳엔, 오래전 춘희를 버렸던 그의 첫사랑 준수의 가족이 살고 있다. 지용은 이곳에 서 의리파 오지랖 소녀 지완과 성실하고 반듯한 지용 남매와 인연을 맺고, 강진과 지완은 열병 같은 첫사랑을 앓는다. 하지만 지용이 지완의 펜던트를 찾으려 물에 들어갔다가 익사하고, 지완이 그 충격으로 집을 떠나며 두 사람은 헤어진다. 오랜 시간이 지난 후, 건축가가 된 강진은 회사 동료의 결혼식에서 지완을 만난다.
