전옥서(조선시대의 교도소)에서 태어난 '옥녀'는 전옥서 관리와 죄수들의 손에서 자랐다. 똑똑하고 총명해서 모두에게 사랑받는 옥녀는 감옥에 있는 여러 죄수들에게 그들의 능력을 직접 전수받는다. 그는 당시 문정왕후와 윤원형 등 권력을 쥔 세력과 얽히면서 좌절을 겪지만 이를 씩씩하게 헤쳐나간다. 체탐인(특수요원), 다모(여성 수사 보조) 등 다양한 자리를 거치며 옥녀는 왕의 운명까지 좌우하려는 권력자들의 음모를 밝히는 데 공헌한다. 한편 옥녀의 출생의 비밀도 드러난다.
A genius girl who was born and raised in prison called Jeonokseo meets various people and becomes a competent woman who helps people in need and finds who she really is.
