윤희는 어린 시절 폭우로 불어난 강물에 빠진 자신을 구하다 죽은 동생에 죄책감을 갖고 살아왔다. 트라우마 때문에 장마철엔 밖을 나가지 못해 늘 일자리를 잃었던 그는 그해 여름에도 해고 통보를 받는다. 어느 날, 윤희는 동생의 사진이 들어있는 지갑을 동네 불량학생 진호에게 빼앗긴다. 며칠 후, 윤희가 진호의 학교에 급식 도우미로 취직하며 두 사람은 다시 마주친다. 윤희는 진호가 부모님과 어른들에게 관심과 사랑을 받지 못한 채 방황하는 것을 알아보고, 진호를 돕기 위해 자신의 아픔을 극복하려 한다.
Yun-hee has felt guilty for her brother, who died saving her life from drowning in the river in a rain-pouring summer. Her trauma kept her from going out in the monsoon season, so she frequently lost her job. That day she gets fired from another job, Jin-ho, the teenager bully in the neighborhood, takes away her wallet. A few days later, the two meet again at Jin-ho's school as Yun-hee starts working as an aide. She recognizes Jin-ho's suffering, as he constantly longs for love and attention from the parents and the grownups around him. So she steps up to help him, trying to break free from the shackle that has haunted her for a very long time.
