제주도 목장에서 자란 ‘시은’은 어릴 적부터 유난히 말과 친한 아이다. 태어나자 마자 엄마를 잃은 말 ‘천둥이’에 대한 시은의 애정은 누구보다 각별해 둘은 서로를 아끼고 따르며 함께 성장한다. 하지만 엄마 없이 외롭게 자란 그녀에게 분신과도 같은 존재였던 천둥이가 어느 날 다른 곳으로 팔려 가면서 둘은 원치 않는 이별을 하게 된다. 2년이 흘러, 과천에서 생활하며 여자 기수의 꿈을 키워오던 시은은 우연히 ‘천둥이’와 감격적으로 재회한다. 시은의 각별한 지도로 천둥이는 조금씩 경주마로서 실력을 되찾게 되고 둘은 경마대회에 함께 출전하게 된다. 이들은 과연 수 만명의 관중이 지켜보는 마지막 경주에서 다시 기적을 일으킬 수 있을까.
Born and raised on a ranch in Jejudo, Si-Eun hopes to become a horse jockey someday. Her favorite horse Chun-doong has become not only her friend, but a soul mate after Si-eun’s mother passed away. One day, Chun-doong is sold to another owner, leaving Si-eun in despair. Two years later, they reunite by sheer coincidence, and they have a chance to create a miracle by teaming up in a horse race.
