설치미술가 나모는 비 오는 제주에 도착한다. 후배 문수는 몇 년 만에 그의 전시를 준비하고 있다. 하지만 나모는 자신의 복귀가 걸린 중요한 전시회를 앞두고 모든 것에 의욕이 샘솟는 모습이 아니다. 문수 가 결국 그의 앞에서 폭발해도, 나모는 문수의 상황을 이해할 여유가 없다. 그에겐 풀리지 않는 의문이 있기 때문이다. 7년 전, 나모는 작업 중 뇌경색으로 쓰러졌다. 아내는 그를 지극정성으로 간호했고, 덕분에 재활엔 성공했다. 하지만 그가 지팡이를 놓고 걸을 정도로 회복됐을 때 아내는 그의 곁을 떠난다. 중국 신화에 나오는 '그림자 먹는 개' 이야기만 남긴 채. 나모는 제주에서도, 북경에서도 아내의 모습을 떠올리며, 왜 아내가 자신을 떠나갔는지 이해하려 애쓴다.
Namo, an installation artist, arrives in raining Jeju. Mun-su, his friend and agent, is preparing for his solo exhibition. Namo, however, is not motivated by everything, even though he has a significant show ahead. Mun-su gets angered at Namo, but he cannot afford to care for Mun-su's feeling due to a question of his own. Seven years ago, he suffered a stroke during his work. Thanks to his wife's dedication, his rehabilitation was a success. But when he could walk without a cane, his wife left him forever, only leaving the story about 'a shadow-eating dog' in Chinse mythology. In Jeju and Beijing, Namo thinks of his wife, trying to figure out why she left him.
