선희는 '더 마트'의 5년 근속 모범사원이다. 현재 계약직인 그는 아이들을 잘 돌보기 위해 정규직이 되길 바라고, 그래서 사측의 무리한 근무 요구도 마다치 않는다. 더 마트는 선희와 같은 캐셔나 매장 청소노동자 등을 계약 고용해 왔다. 하지만 비용 절감을 위해 정규직은 연봉계약직으로, 계약직은 용역업체를 통해 간접 고용하기로 결정한다. 계약직 노동자들은 고용 계약 해지 문자를 받고 결정에 항의하지만, 사측은 제대로 된 설명도 내놓지 않는다. 선희와 싱글맘 혜미, 청소노동자 순례, 젊은 세대 미진 등 노동자들은 조합을 결성하고 사측과 교섭을 시도하지만, 회사는 이들을 완전히 무시한다. 결국, 계약직 노동조합인 파업에 돌입해 매장을 점거하고, 회사는 이들을 해산시키기 위해 갖은 방법을 동원한다.
Sun-hee is a model employee of The Mart. Her goal is to be hired as a regular worker to support her two children. That's why she eagerly does what the company demands, even if sometimes the demands are unfair. However, the company policy has changed; the contract-based workers must be outsourced. Sun-hee and her co-workers protest the decision, but the company never explains it properly. Irregular employees form a union and try negotiating with the company, only to be left out and completely ignored. When the union strikes and takes over the store, the company does whatever is necessary to dissolve the protesters.
