임방울 국악제는 한국 판소리의 역사, 국악 명창 임방울 선생을 기념하는 국악 대회다. 광복 전후 고통받던 민중에게 희망을 심어준 가객의 업적을 기리고, 한국 판소리의 전승을 위해 개최한다. 임방울 선생의 고향 광주에서 한국 판소리의 다음을 이끌 소리꾼을 만나보자.
Imbangul Gugak Festival is a national pansori contest to honor Im Bang-ul, the great singer in the 1920~50s who gave people comfort in a painful time. The competition held at Kwangju, Mr. Im's hometown, is one of the most renowned music competitions for Korean Traditional Music singers.
