중국 국공내전 시기, 국민당 장교인 자오윈페이는 공산당 선전물을 검열하던 일을 맡다가 공산주의 신념에 감화된다. 옌안의 공산당 본거지에서 그는 비밀 정보 요원의 임무를 받 고, 공산당의 스파이로 국민당 내부에서 활동한다.
During China's Civil War, Zhao Yunfei, a Kuomintang officer, was assigned to censor communist propaganda. Then, inspired by the Communist belief, he switched sides to join the communists. He goes to Yan'an, gets a new assignment, and is sent back to the Kuomintang as a spy.
