좁은 월세방들로 가득한 허름한 동네. 사회에서 밀려나 누구도 주목하지 않는 인생들이 하나둘 모여드는 곳이다. 가브리엘 신부는 이곳 교구에서 여느 때와 다름없는 권태로운 일 상을 이어가고 있다. 그러던 어느 날, 어떤 사람이 살인을 저질렀다는 고해성사를 한다. 신부는 처음엔 장난이라 생각하며 대수롭지 않게 넘겼지만, 동네 주민들이 잇따라 죽는 사건이 벌어지자 불안함을 느낀다. 한편 형사 광숙은 한 동네에서 고독사 사건이 끊임없이 벌어지는 것을 포착하고 수사에 나선다. 같은 사람을 찾고 있음을 알게 된 신부와 형사는 힘을 합쳐 외로움을 이용한 연쇄 살인을 막으려 한다.
Father Gabriel has been preaching in a secluded neighborhood where shabby houses and alienated lives are filled. His rather dull life changes when a person confesses to him that he killed people. At first, Gabriel thinks it is a mischievous prank, but he gets suspicious after learning some neighbors suddenly died, one by one. Meanwhile, Kwang-sook, a veteran detective, acknowledges a series of deaths in the town and tries to make a case. Finding out they are after the same guy, the priest and the detective cooperate to find the killer who uses people's solitude to disguise his killing spree.
